New Peace Corps Logo
The new Peace Corps logo was unveiled recently with the goal of inspiring and engaging a mission-driven audience and the next generation of Americans who want to make a positive impact on the world.
Peace Corps is an organization, a volunteer program run by the United States government with the mission of helping people around the world by providing technical assistance, helping Americans to understand other countries culture, and helping people outside the US to understand American culture. Peace Corps Volunteers service focuses on health, education, business, IT among other areas.
The Peace Corps has been working on rebranding for the last two years. The Peace Corps’ in-house team collaborated with Ogilvy Washington to come up with this refreshed identity. The idea is to ensure that the new design preserves Peace Corps history in the new logo while projecting a modern feel with a new concept.
According to Carrie Hessler-Radelet, director of the Peace Corps, the redesign’s aims to show the world that Peace Corps has evolved with the times, but still retains its core values and mission. Also, it wants to let the world know that Peace Corps is still mission-driven. Since Peace Corps is equipped with latest tools and technologies, they want to put on a modern face.
These refreshed look also includes a design for a bold new Peace Corps website. As the world digitizes, the Peace Corps website needed the facelift. Forum One, a Washington D.C.-based digital agency, created the new design. According to Carrie Hessler-Radelet, the new site is user-friendly and works on all devices.
The Old Peace Corps Logo
Originally introduced in 1971, the logo is updated for the first time in more than 40 years. The old logo featured an iconic flag-and-dove. Peace Corps feels that the look and ideology behind the old logo do not meet the needs of a new generation.
The New Peace Corps Logo
Although the new logo design combines the dove and the American flag from the old logo, the new logo emphasizes a modern and clean design and a forward-facing look.
The new logo was created to accommodate a current Peace Corps making an effort to retain key elements from the old logo, including the colors, the American flag, and the dove. The dove is now efficiently drawn and simple; also the stripes from the American flag incorporate a soft flow.
The changes represent the modernization of Peace Corps and an appeal to a new generation but also the extensive reforms to existing programs including internal promotion of health and safety and the strengthening of volunteer training. The organization is ready to present its new look and offer a connection to the next generation of Americans who wish to improve the lives of others around the world.
